What is the climate in Albania and when to go to make the most of the country?

The climate in Albania is mainly Mediterranean along the coast, with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. In the mountains, the climate is more continental, with warm summers and cold winters. Precipitation varies considerably depending on region and altitude. Tirana, the capital, experiences average summer temperatures of around 30 °C and winter temperatures of about 6 °C. Coastal areas, such as Durres, enjoy a milder climate with slightly cooler average summer temperatures due to the influence of the Adriatic Sea. In contrast, mountainous regions, like the Albanian Alps, can be much cooler, with winter temperatures well below zero.
