What is the climate in South Africa and when to go to make the most of the country?

South Africa is a year‑round destination thanks to the diversity of regional climates and the opportunities offered by its wildlife and flora. Cape Town enjoys warm, dry weather during the summer months, from November to February, while the best time to watch whales is between July and November. The northern regions can be rainy from November to February, but this is the best time to travel and bird‑watch, whereas the cooler winter months of May to September provide excellent conditions for big‑game viewing.
