I travel solo normally but this time I decided to go with Tashi. He was really kind to me. First of all, he knows many things of Bhutan.(History,Traditional culture,Shop,Factory, etc…) I explain him what I want to do & unscheduled place. He’s act according to circumstances. I want request to him again if I get the chance.
I arrived at Paro Airport from Kathmandhu, having seen the Himalayas and Mount Everest close up from the flight, and was greeted by Thashi at the Arrivals area. Tashi looked respondent in his Traditional Bhutanese clothing, and the moment I saw his kindly smile I knew that I was going to be well looked after. We were soon in the SUV on the road to Thimphu and my first impressions were re-inforced by Tashi’s excellent command of English, understanding of international ways, and familiarity with Bhutanese culture and history. Tashi was also resourceful. When none of the ATMs were working in Bhutan (there had been a hack) Tashi patiently and yet confidently guided me around various Thimphu offices in the quest to exchange dollars and pounds. In the end we were successful, largely because of Tashi’s network of friends. As we travelled around the spectacular countryside, it became clear that Tashi was well known and seemed to know everybody. Bhutan may have a small population, but even so the extent of Tashi’s contacts was still remarkable. We shared espresso coffee together on mountain passes – quite a treat I believe in Bhutan – and I felt that I was travelling around Bhutan with a knowledgeable friend rather than a tour guide. On our final day we climbed to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery – a challenge for a man in his sixties who is not used to the altitude and strenuous climb. Tashi was supportive, encouraging and above all patient. He never made an out of shape old man feel embarrassed about the frequent rest stops, and when the trek was over we both felt a sense of accomplishment. I would never hesitate to recommend Tashi as Bhutan’s number one guide.
We were all together 16 bikers. You served us in all aspects in an excellent way, also giving us a lifeful impression of the culture and the nature of Bhutan. The weather and roads gave big challenge, but you stood up with the following car and your service all the time, even serving a full hot meal to the bikers close to the top of high Chelela pass. The country embraced our expectations with loving warmth -the sparkling green stretching toward the sky, the rain alternating with sunshine, simple houses alternates with ornate temples, fresh mountain air alternates with smell of all kinds of animals. Here are respected all life, no animals are killed. Animals and people live together in harmony, as relatives in body and spirit. All our thanks and honor to Tashi and his team. You are well prepared for new challenges.
I have been traveling for few months, the time spent at Bhutan is one of the most memorable ones. Beautiful country & people come with authentic & harmonious culture that warms my heart. However without Tashi dedicated presence & warm hospitality,I could never have these memorable & unique experiences. He is not only an attentive tour guide, his friendship has also made me feel I am not a stranger in the Happiest Country. Being safe, comfortable & home is such a precious moment any tourist could have. Thank you very much,Tashi. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to any of my friends that is keen to visit Bhutan.
