2-3 weeks before my husband and I arrived into Georgia last month, I made contact with David Luashvili to bring us around the Kakheti area after reading both Lonely Planet and Bradt’s Travel Guides’ recommendation of his services. Unfortunately, due to a change of schedule and planning glitches, we had to cancel out on our plans with him 2-3 days before. I felt really terrible and am pretty sure we totally miss out on a fantastic experience and here’s why ... From all the way in Singapore over quite a number of WhatsApp messages, Mr Luashvili was always prompt, thorough and detailed in his communication, attesting to his commitment and professionalism even though I was but one of countless prospective clients asking for all kinds of information. When I had to bail out on him for reneging on our agreement, David Luashvili was kind and and understanding - which just made me feel worse than ever. He accepted my apologies very graciously confirming for me that I had missed out on meeting an exceptional person and guide!

Davit is full of knowledge,a safe driver and like to talk and discuss. For “grown-ups” it is a bonus to have a guide that served in the red army and have experience from the Soviet-periode. Thanks for very interesting days in lovely Kakheti.

Le meilleur chauffeur, en Géorgie. Nous avions David comme guide dans la zone telavi. Nous avons trouvé qu'il était extrêmement serviable et arrangeant. Nous avons été extrêmement bien informés sur les endroits où il nous a emmenés, et il était très instructif concernant la culture locale et de l'histoire locale dans son ensemble ne les vaut pas. Il était très flexible et dévoué et parlait très bien anglais. Il est également possible de faire votre choix dans tout le pays et dans la plus grande région et sa voiture est confortable avec l'air conditionné et des sièges. Son prix est très raisonnable et nous y retournerons certainement encore au cours de ce voyage. On ne peut pas le recommander fortement lui faire !

We had an absolutely fantastic day touring Georgia with David! We were staying in Tbilisi but wanted to be able to see some of the rest of the country and David was able to come pick us up in the morning to drive us out to the Kakheti region. He took us on a great trip through there and to Telavi where we tried wine at amazing vineyards and had a good lunch. The best part of the day though was when David took us to his home and gave us some of his own wine which was excellent - I’m kicking myself for not asking to buy a bottle (don’t make the same mistake!). I really can’t recommend David enough: he’s a fantastic driver, on time, and knows everything about wine and the Kakheti region. He’s passionate about life and his country. Listening to music while driving back to Tbilisi that evening was one of the highlights of the trip.

We were introduced to David by our host in Telavi. She told us that we were lucky that he was available and she was right! (We’d seen his name in a lonely planet guide). David picked us up and took us on a 4 hour tour of religious sights and a winery in and around Telavi. He even we the “extra mile” and dropped us off at our next homestay, which was a little tricky to find. David was trustworthy and had a depth of knowledge that far exceeded any guide book. We loved his humor, musing on Georgian history and global politics, and his enthusiasm for Metallica and Slayer. We only wish that we had more time to tour more sights with him!

Davit is an excellent guide in Telavi who speaks good english, drives carefully and doesn't smoke when with clients.
